Fast-paced strategic cooking game

Cooking Fever, developed by Nordcurrent, is a free cooking, strategy, and simulation game that puts you into the high-pressure world of high-class restaurant management. This game requires good time management skills and quick interactions as you prepare diverse meals and serve hundreds of clients across various restaurants, cultures, and diverse settings.

In Cooking Fever, you are tasked with catering to numerous customers, each with unique requests, using various ingredients. From hot dogs and burgers to exquisite desserts and Asian delicacies, the culinary variety is extensive. Additionally, you can als invest in upgrades for kitchen appliances, materials, skills, and even restaurant aesthetics.

Climb the culinary ladder

Cooking Fever provides a rich gameplay experience with plenty to do in the kitchen. You can practice various cooking techniques and polish their kitchen skills using over a hundred different ingredients and a wide range of appliances, from rice cookers to coffee makers. Beyond the culinary aspect, it also allows for restaurant decoration and offering promotions like free cupcakes to attract more customers and enhance their experience.

Customers arrive with orders, and you must follow specific steps to prepare and serve meals within a strict time limit. For instance, a burger order requires heating bread and meat separately before assembly and serving. Time management is crucial; delays lead to angry customers and lost tips. As you progress, the pace quickens, demanding efficient multitasking. Its progression system allows you to invest earnings into new kitchen appliances or aesthetic improvements.

While the game is free to download, it operates on a freemium model. Significant progress and aesthetic enhancements often require microtransactions to purchase upgrades and appliances. It’s not a bad thing by itself, although it's possible to complete the game without spending money. It demands considerable patience and time to grind through levels however. Despite this, its excellent graphics  and engaging gameplay make it an enjoyable and strategic experience for all.

Great for both new and experienced players

Cooking Fever is a free, engaging time-management and strategy game where players manage restaurants, prepare diverse meals, and serve customers. It offers extensive content, excellent graphics, and satisfying progression through upgrades. While completable without spending, its freemium model means significant progress often requires microtransactions, demanding patience for free players. Still, it these cons doesn’t hinder players from experiencing the entire by itself.

It's the equivalent of slightly better Burger Shop circa 2007.The total cost of diamonds you'll need to get through this game teeters on 30,000 diamonds total or $600. If someone in 2024 is paying $600 to play Cooking Fever (AKA Burger Shop), they need to see a counselor. You can buy a month's worth of food for what you'll blow on this ridiculous game.

Of course they will just ignore it. To fully buy and upgrade everything in this game again would be 26,897 gems. They've given you a nice 2,500 to get you started toward giving them another $500-$700 (I didn't include the cost of gems to upgrade machines).Cooking Fever is not a game for the sane. You can actually buy a month's worth of real food for what you'd pay upgrading their 2007-animated equipment. I learned that the hard way.Tell them thanks for the memories and move on. There are other better games than this, and they're way cheaper.

Not only is Cooking Fever not "entirely free," but it's the most expensive game I've ever played (right up there with Hay Day). As with all games that are intentionally trying to completely rob their players blind, its early restaurants are playable. The first one will be free, and if you're able to stop there, by all means, enjoy it. It's a good game.By the second restaurant, you're looking at a minimum of $20-$30 to get through it. Still not too shocking and probably worth it, as the game is actually very good.By the time you hit your 9th restaurant, you'll be closing in on $100 spent (if you plan to get through it at all). And that's where it becomes overpriced. But if you're like me and have a big old case of brain lapse, you'll keep going. By the time I was to the fourth restaurant, they were asking for sheer absurdities: $9 to upgrade something as ridiculous as the teapot/drinkmakers to full speed. And of course as the game goes on, the customers get angrier and the pace picks up. By the fourth or fifth restaurant, it's entirely pay-to-win, and you're going to very likely end up spending hundreds if not thousands to play through the entire way. The Seafood Bistro alone is over 1,000 diamonds to upgrade ($50).That's not an exaggeration. I finally realized the insanity at the $400 marker.Ask yourself: Would you pay $400 for a mobile game that's the equivalent of Burger Shop or Cake Mania? If the answer is no, don't start this game. The first level is the equivalent of a hit of crack. Even if it's free, it's crack, and it won't be later. By the time you snap out of it and realize how silly it actually is to pay $3 a pop to update a teamaker and shred of lettuce, you will have drained substantial amounts of money from your bank. And this is one reason why the younger generation can't afford homes anymore or understand the concept of saving... something that looks as innocent as this is in front of them everyday: from the $6 latte to the $100 Cooking Fever upgrades, they're spending "micro" transactions that add up to a down payment on a house over the course of a decade. There are other games that are better than this and far, far cheaper. Consider the 4K PS5 game is around $69.99, and realize that little junky mobile gaming companies are charging you 6 times more to play 2007 Burger Shop games.
